Fair or Not Fair
So, Minnesota is a "no fault" state in auto accidents. This means if you are in any kind of an accident, no one is 100% at fault. It could be 80/20, 50/50 and so on. Well last week I was driving down the parking lot at the mall and a girl backed out of her spot without looking and ran into me. I beeped my horn as she was pulling out but she pulled out so quick she didn't have time to stop. Well now, she wants to not claim it on the insurance and she only wants to pay half of the car estimate to get fixed since she says "it a no fault state and it is fair for each to pay half".
I am calling the insurance company today to ask if this would go on my record and what I would end up paying if we filed with the insurance. I just can't imagine how this is fair when I didn't do anything wrong. It really isn't even 1% my fault.
I will keep you posted...

Laurie - I would tell the lady that if she doesn't pay the whole amount, then you will have to call her insurance company. See what she does then.

I did do that. Then I called the insurance and they said, in Minnesota a accident is never 100% someone's fault. If you have witnesses they prove you were the least responsible, then it changes and you are only 20% responsible. It's pretty bad...the no fault insurance law.
